The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) kongress, Hamburg https://eanscongress.org
Dear colleagues, dear friends,
Welcome to EANS2021, the European Congress of Neurosurgery in Hamburg! We are in uncertain times but already we are working towards a safe format for a REAL meeting while many patterns of safe gatherings and events have been tested and implemented.
The Congress theme for Hamburg is “ Neurosurgery in Translation “. Every decade we see immense progress in engineering, computer sciences and biotechnology, all of which are to be integrated into the development of new tools, biomaterials and drugs. To make best use of the vast opportunities of technological progress, we need to update on these frontiers from time to time and that will be one of the foci of the scientific program. The scientific program of the annual EANS Meeting has constantly evolved and aims to provide broad overviews of the state of the art of the many increasingly highly profiled neurosurgical subspecialities. It also provides ample space for interactive expert discussions and focussed masterclasses which aim to amalgamate sharing personal surgical expertise and integration of technological advances. In this concert, we aim to stage again an industrial exhibit as a crucial element so that the conference participants get a hands-on experience for the current standards and developments. The interaction and close collaboration with industrial partners is crucial to improve neurosurgical care and expand the possibilities to treat neurosurgical diseases.
The Congress host city, Hamburg with his 800 years old harbour has always been one of the major gateways of continental Europe to the whole world, and thus has been home to an open international society for hundreds of years. It has a vast cultural scene, and because of its many rivers and lakes never makes its industrial importance felt to citizens or visitors. Fedor Krause worked here 1892-1900 and developed iconic neurosurgical techniques. The conference center in Hamburg, the CCH, reopened in 2020 and is now one of the most modern and flexible in Europe so that it is well equipped to accommodate the pandemic safety requirements, so we are planning for a presence meeting where we hope to see you.
Looking forward to seeing all of you next year here in our hanseatic atmosphere,
